As Engineering Manager, you will be a key member in the product engineering team turning solutions into reality, having a significant impact on the engineering process and lead the architectural, system and solutions roadmap and design.
High-level responsibilities and tasks
As Engineering Manager, you are responsible for the team that builds and maintains the technology enabling and supporting the operations of the organisation’s processes, products and services. You will build & lead a team of cross functional professionals working together to execute on our product and operations roadmap.
You ensure a high-quality delivery with a consistent approach on 3 key domains:
Team & process management
- Hire and manage a team of five to eight requirement analysts, software architects and engineers
- Design and operate a suitable secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and required automations, supporting processes and controls
Roadmap & product engineering
- Work closely with Product and Operation Management to align on outcomes
- Design roadmaps for technical and functional developments based on objectives, requirements, timelines, resources and other constraints
- Guide and supervise the full range of engineering activities from business requirements elicitation to test and release management
Software & System engineering
- Manage the writing of specifications, requirements and design documents, the production of software and the configuration of information systems
- Supervise the architecture of information systems, information system infrastructure (both self-hosted and cloud-based) and software components
- Define and validate the quality standards of the software delivered by the team
This role is made for someone who is fluent in communication with a positive and constructive attitude. You can convey your ideas clearly to the people around you. You love to come up with solutions and to realize them. You are comfortable with ambiguity, figuring out things as they evolve, switch contexts easily, you think about different options and their long-term impact. You work across multiple tasks and longer-term projects while keeping stress levels down. You have at least 5 years of experience in a comparable role, ideally in an international B2B tech (SaaS) environment (start-up / scale-up) with a strong track record of collaboration with sales, internal stakeholders & partners to develop product requirements.
You can’t know everything but we’re looking for experience in a range of these areas:
- Soft and hard skills as required by the responsibilities and tasks as defined, and in particular:
- Experience in human resource management and team management
- Secure software delivery lifecycle definition and management, based on common modern software development methodologies and standards
- Backend engineering (including storage engines, relational databases, and robust back-end development) incl. Knowledge/experience of Microsoft .net
- Architecture of distributed systems, message & API-based integration and other middleware topics
- Front-end development & user experience design (web & mobile)
- Information system and security, infrastructure and networks, AWS or Microsoft Azure Cloud
- Industrial communication protocols & interfaces
- IoT (hardware and software)
- Fluent in spoken and written English; knowledge of other European languages is an asset.

This is a full-time position where the work can be performed within a hybrid setting with at least 2-3 day per week on site, or occasionally more if required.
